The New and Improved Slender

Slender originally came out in 2012 being called short, crude and one of the scariest games of the year.  This game will definitely scare you if you decide to play it with headphones in a dark room.  In this video game, you had to collect 8 pages before Slender was able to catch you.  The game isn't graphically pleasing, but the horror factor of the game is what makes it so popular.  Now apparently, there will be a new and improved version of Slender coming out in early 2013.  So far from the preview, you can see better improved graphics, and somewhat of a better game play.

Now lets get lost in the woods with Slender....

Happy Holidays 2012 Update

Hello gamers, this is Chris_sez with an awesome update post.  This was originally suppose to be our first video post, but technical difficulties occurred so this is now a written post.   Most of us, including myself, are officially on break from school.  With that said, there will be more reviews and news updates from us throughout the rest of December, and about halfway through January.  Currently, I'm playing Sonic 4 Episode II,  and Super Mario World.  I will be reviewing Power Rangers Lighspeed Rescue and Timeforce for the Playstation.  As a Christmas gift, I'll review Super Mario World, because you are all fantastic fans, and we really appreciate you all checking out our blog.  Definitely check out our previous reviews and what reviews will be coming soon.  Finally, we have added a new member to our group, and she will be our art designer.  With her help, we're going to renovate the site so that everyone loves it.  Finally, there is a possibility that we will be looking for a new reviewer to join the DirectGamers team.  Stayed tuned to the blog and our Twitter page @DirectGamers for further updates on this matter.  Once again guys, thank you so much for being by our sides throughout the year, and let's hope that the next year will be amazing!!!  Happy Holidays everyone!!!

Pokemon Black & White 2 Animated Trailer

Well I really never finished a Pokemon game, nor am I up to date with the new Pokemon, but this trailer makes me want to buy a Nintendo DS (DSi or a 3DS) and get this game plus its predecessor, Pokemon Black or White.  I already know this isn't actual game play footage but the way they're promoting the game is very good.  All I know is that a lot of Pokemon fans were waiting for a direct sequel to a game and now they're getting it.  Pokemon Black and White 2 comes out in the United States on October 7, 2012 for the Nintendo DS!!!  Can't wait to tell my little cousin!

Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers Review

Back in the 90's, there were many television shows that were very popular, especially with children.  One of those shows was Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers!  It was all about five teenagers, later six, with attitude protecting and saving our world from the evil witch Rita Repulsa.  With the help of Zordon and Alpha 5, they receive power morphers, representing certain dinosaurs, and transformed into the Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers.  With the popularity of the show, there was bound to be video games.  There were games on the Super Nintendo, SEGA CD, Game Boy, SEGA Game Gear, and on the SEGA Genesis.  Today, we'll be reviewing Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers for the SEGA Genesis/ Mega Drive!!!

E3 Recap: Sony Press Conference

Hey everyone, this is Chris_sez with an E3 Recap on the Sony Press Conference.  I know this is a little late, but I wasn't feeling well to post this, so I thought that this was the best time to post this.  At E3 this year, Sony had to bring their A game in order to survive this year.  With the mishaps of last year, this year was make or break.  To me, they gave it their all and won; they sold their product very well and made people really want the PS3, PS Vita, and its games.  This recap is only about some of the games, so let's start this recap.

E3 Recap: Microsoft Press Conference

Hey gamers, Chris_sez here with some recap about the Microsoft Press Conference.  Overall, this was amazing, but it did have some boring parts to it.  It was a great two hours watching about the new games on the Xbox 360, the improved use of the Kinect voice commands, and what we can expect for the Xbox 360.  Just to tell y'all, all the games talked about during the press conference won't be mentioned in this article (I missed a little bit of this).  Time to end this introduction, and jump into this recap.

Tomb Raider 2013

Trust me, Tomb Raider just got even more wicked.  Apparently Laura Croft is a survivor this time around, unlike her other video games.  This is definitely an interesting twist for this series and look forward in seeing more info in the future.

Sonic Generations Review

Sonic Generations is a new game for everyone who likes to play as the little blue blur for their Xbox 360. It is a single player game that allows gamers to play as classic Sonic (Sonic from the past) or Modern Sonic (Sonic today). The objective is to race through different levels that have appeared in previous sonic games. From the Green Hill Zone in the first Sonic the Hedgehog game to the last addition of Planet Wisp in Sonic Colors. In this game, every Sonic fan can relive the memories they’ve had of Sonic in the past as they battle old foes and dash through every stage. Although The Blue Blur has been struggling from his disappointments in the franchise, will this game get him back on his feet? Let’s find out in this review of Sonic Generations.

The Indoor Kids... A Podcast You Should Listen To

A wide variety of topics are talked about in this podcast
Hey gamers, Chris_sez here with something that might interest y'all.  I love games, and I love hearing people talk about games.  G4TV doesn't work for me anymore, since they talk less about games now.  To get my craving for gaming knowledge, I went on iTunes to look for a podcast.  Some podcasts were specified for a game, such as Pokemon or WoW, while others were from these big websites such as IGN and GameSpot.  As I went through this forest of podcasts, I found this gem of a podcast known as The Indoor Kids by Nerdist.com.

Hosts Kumail Nanjiani and Emily V. Gordon give you an earful of information about games of the past and present.  They also talk about other topics that branch off of video games, such as the dynamics of fighting games, video game based movie, and the list goes on.  A great thing that they both do is warn listeners that a spoiler is coming up in the podcast.  Furthermore, their guests are hilarious and have superb gaming knowledge; their guest are either working in game companies or for a network that talks about gaming (I'm looking at you G4).  Sometimes, their podcasts are live and the audience jumps into the fray of gaming shenanigans.  This podcast is free and it is on both iTunes and Nerdist.com.  Their episodes come out every Monday and it is a great use of time.  You can support them by listening to the podcast, or by using some of their promos from GameFly or Amazon.  Follow hosts Kumail, Emily, and The Indoor Kids show on Twitter.  Also, they have a webshow on the Nerdist YouTube channel every other Tuesday!  If you have time, check out this amazing podcast.

Dead or Alive 5

Dead or Alive 5 is definitely....different.

Zack vs Lei Fang
Apparently Zack has a new outfit O.o

Christie vs Bay Man
It seems like Christie is back again
and Bay Man certainly looks different.

Ayane vs Hitomi
This fight looks pretty wicked and insane.
Metal, cars, and (I believe) a bus are
 being thrown everywhere.

Even though Dead or Alive 5 is far from
the norm of an average fighting
video game, I still can't can't wait to get it.

When Shall We See A Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Review?

Hey gamers, this is Chris_sez with an update.  As of today, Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Episode ii is out for both systems and mobile with the added bonus of Episode Metal.  I thought about this game for a while, since my birthday is around the time of the release dates.  When shall DirectGamers do a review for Sonic 4?  The answer is we don't know.  Sorry guys and gals, but in order to complete this classic era, Sonic 3 and Knuckles (as 1 game) has to be reviewed beforehand.  Also, more likely I won't be doing the Sonic 4, the game as a whole, review because I don't have any of the next gen systems and there is not enough space on my iPod to buy and install those games; I already know about Steam, but my computer does not fit any of the requirements (I know, that sucks).  From what I've seen on YouTube due to the Steam leak of the game, the game looks fantastic.  Graphics definitely look better from Sonic 4 Episode i, and I love the music in the game.  I just read Game Informer's review of the game, and I honestly disagree with them entirely.  To me, Sonic 4, as a whole, pays homage to the classics and attempts to become the final slot in the classic era.  Well that's an update for y'all; more news, previews, and reviews will be on the way.  Not every review will be a Sonic game.  Furthermore, don't forget to check out our Twitter page at https://twitter.com/DirectGamers.

Game on!!!!

Kingdom Hearts 3???

Samantha here,

So apparently, there will be an announcement (according to G4TV) of another Kingdom Hearts game coming out.  Could it finally be Kingdom Hearts 3?  Personally, I think its going to be another filler.  I started out absolutely loving the series, but the fillers are getting ridiculous.  There are starting to be too many characters and plot twists.  Even though only two Kingdom Hearts video games were dedicated to the main story, it sometimes has me wondering if all of the story lines actually connect.

Who knows.

I'm still a faithful fan and have a lot of catching up to do before I start getting excited over Kingdom Hearts 3 anyway,

Get in Gear for Sonic & All-Star Racing Transformed

Sonic and his friends from all over the SEGA Universe are back in Sonic & All-Star Racing Transformed, a sequel to Sonic & SEGA All-Star Racing.  Sonic & All-Star Racing Transformed brings with it the ability for players to switch their cars between planes and boats; this concept was introduced in Mario Kart 7.  However, the game takes it to a whole new level.  These sections of the race are not there just for the glamour; from what Sumo Digital has said, players can go faster and maneuver better in these sections, but it all depends on if you want to soar into the skies or take a splash into the water.  Furthermore, the music, characters, and areas will have some amazing updates.  Let's hope Ristar gets some love this time and actually appear as a racer.  The plumber we all know and love might have some formidable competition in the racing department.  Sonic & All-Star Racing Transformed will be racing to shelves in late 2012 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 & Vita, Nintendo 3DS, and PC.

Gears of War Review

The game developed by Epic Games and published by Microsoft Game Studios. It was initially released as an exclusive title for the Xbox 360 in November 2006 in North America, Australia, and most of Europe. It focuses on the troops of Delta Squad as they fight a desperate, last-ditch attempt to save the remaining human inhabitants of the fictional planet Sera from a relentless and virtually unstoppable subterranean enemy known as the Locust Horde. The player assumes the role of Marcus Fenix, a former prisoner and war-hardened soldier. The game is based on the use of cover and strategic fire for the player to advance through the scenarios; a second player can play cooperatively through the main campaign to assist. The game also features several online multiplayer game modes for up to eight players.

Gears of War 2 Review

Ok you guys might have seen the Gears 3 review. Well this one is to add to your knowledge on the gears universe.Gears of War 2 is a third-person shooter video game developed by Epic Games and published by Microsoft Game Studios for the Xbox 360. The game was officially released in North America, Europe and Australia on November 7, 2008 and was released in Japan on July 30, 2009. Saint Seiya: Sanctuary Battle

© YouTube & IGN.com

I remember watching Saint Saiya, also known as Knights of the Zodiac in the US, when I was younger.  Only a couple of things that I remember from the show was that it was on Toonami and one move; PEGASUS METEOR PUNCH!!!  After watching this trailer for the new game Saint Seiya:  Sanctuary Battle, it reminded me of the show.  The gameplay and graphics looks amazing in my eyes, but I had 1 issue with the trailer.  Where is Seiya at?  He only appears towards the end of the trailer.  It's a little nit-picking, but Namco Bandi has a great anime on its hands, and lets hope that they do well with it in game form.  Saint Seiya:  Sanctuary Battle does not have a release date, but it will be out exclusively for the PlayStation 3.

3DS Games for 2012

Samantha here, there are some upcoming 3DS games that I am psyched about (even though I don't own a 3DS, but its always good to dream).

Quite frankly, this video game looks really cheesy.   The animation and the flow of the characters are slow and the video game seems very child like, but all these factors is what makes Rhythm Thief and the Emperor's Treasure such a fantastic game.  Just looking at the trailer amuses me.  Just thinking about their big boggle heads, the animated scenes, and their cheesy dance moves, always seem to bring a smile to my face.  I can't wait to try this game out.  It bring me back to Playstation's Bust a Groove. Available April 30th in the USA

Animal Crossing!!  You can never go wrong with Animal Crossing!! It's one of those video games that you buy because you played the previous ones.  This game is pretty laid back for me, but its a fantastic way to past the time if I am bored.  I won't cry if I don't invest in this video game, but it would be nice to have it.

Annd the one of the very few video games I do plan on buying is Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance. So apparently, this video game connects Kingdom Hearts: Coded, Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep, and Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days. Out of all of the Kingdom Hearts fillers, I look forward to this one the most.  I'm barely getting through Birth by Sleep sadly. I just want Kingdom Hearts 3 to come out and then I can play the rest of the fillers because I don't find any of them interesting at the moment.

There's a possibility that Professor Layton vs, Ace Attorney might be coming out this year.  I would love for it to come out this year, but the US might have to wait till next year.  This game will definitely be interesting.  I finished almost all of the Ace Attorney games, and are working on the Professor Layton ones.  Hopefully, this video game will be an exciting one.

Assassin's Creed 3 Debut Trailer Revealed

Hey gamers, Chris_sez here with an amazing update on Assassin's Creed III.  The debut trailer was released around 12 noon by IGN, and it looks epic.  I do like how the unknown hero uses tomahawks, bows and arrows, and even an enemy's gun to take out enemies.  Hopping from tree to tree to me was very ninja like (thank you Naruto), but it definitely fits the Assassin's Creed motif.  It makes me wonder one particular thing; Who side is this guy on?  It's probably an unnecessary question, but that's just me.  Be prepared to jump into the American Revolution in Assassin's Creed III on October 30, 2012.  The game will be released for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii U, and PC.

The Year of Resident Evil

Samantha here, I am so excited for the upcoming games Capcom is coming out for Resident Evil this year.  I am totally excited for this upcoming year and can't wait to get every single last one of them.

First and foremost, Jill Valentine and Chris Redfield returns in Resident Evil: Revelations for the Nintendo 3DS. This video game explains what happens between Resident Evil 4 and 5. A new BSAA member, Parker Luciani, is also introduced. Jill and her new partner, Parker Luciani, is sent on an abandoned cruise ship in search of Chris Redfield, based on his last GPS coordinates. Sadly, I don't have a 3DS currently, but I do plan on buying it, just so I can play Resident Evil: Revelations (and other video games, of course).

Secondly, Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City is another video game to get excited over! This trailer is total bada**!! Honestly, I have no idea what's going on in this video, but I can't wait to play the game in order to figure it out. In this video game, one of our favorites return, Leon S. Kennedy. This video game takes place around the time of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3: Nemesis. The fascinating part of this game is that players can play two different roles. They can either play as the Umbrella Security Service (USS) members or the United States Special Operations force. The Umbrella Security Service is trying to destroy any evidence of Umbrella's illegal activities and anyone who survive, while the United States Special Operations Force is trying to expose the company. Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City comes out in America, March 20th. The wait is already killing me!! It will be available for the PS3 and the Xbox 360.

Lastly, Resident Evil 6 is coming out November 20th (Just in time for Christmas and Black Friday). In this story, Leon S. Kennedy and Chris Redfield returns in order to fight off even more zombies. The President decided to reveal the truth about the bioterrorist attacks, in high hopes that it will slowly dwindle down if the people knew of it. Sadly, the president transforms and Leon is left with the ultimate decision to kill him. On the other hand, Chris lands in China and tries to control the situation over there. The world is slowly being consumed with these attacks, which makes people start to wonder about the fate of humanity.

There's more!! I haven't heard much this year, but supposedly there is an animated movie coming out this year: Resident Evil Damnation. It features Leon S. Kennedy and it's in 3D!! Not only that, but the film makers are thinking about making a live action one too (I assume a live action version that's focus more on the video game characters).

Wow that is a lot of Resident Evil in a nutshell. Can't wait to play/see all of them. Gotta go finish playing Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep now.

The Amazing Spider-Man Game Teaser

More The Amazing Spider%2DMan Videos

When I saw the teaser for The Amazing Spider-Man video game, I thought to myself, "What's going to make this game different from the rest of the Spider-Man movie games?"  I believe that this game might change the way Spider-Man movie games are viewed in a positive way.  The great thing about the teasers and trailers for this game is that we don't know who or what the main villain is.  We'll find out this summer when The Amazing Spider-Man starts swinging into store for the PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, Nintendo DS & 3DS.

Metroid Prime 3: Corruption Review

Metroid Prime 3: Corruption
The game in general: The Metroid series all started back in the NES days when Metroid was released. It wasn’t exactly a best seller, but it wasn’t considered a bad game. In 2002, Metroid Prime was released for the GameCube and got a tremendous amount of praise. It was the first FPS Metroid game, and probably the best one. Prime’s graphics were so good at the time that it challenged the graphics of the Xbox, which is saying a lot. Metroid Prime 2: Echoes was released as a sequel to this game, and Prime 3 was released as the sequel to that in 2007. Metroid Prime 3 is said to be one of the worst Prime games, but many people could easily argue against that. Personally, I love it. Its unique Wii controls, it’s beautiful graphics, and it’s outstanding game play prove it to be (at least in my opinion) one of the best Prime games.

Bungie and Minecraft Go Against SOPA Bill

We as gamers need to make sure this bill doesn't pass!
Word about the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) has spread throughout the gaming universe.  It has even caused the shut down of the Fireball beta.  ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!!  Bungie, the company that created the Halo series, and Markus Persson, head of Mojang studios which is known for Minecraft, have spoke up about this issue.

Persson stated on Twitter on January 13, that Minecraft will be offline on January 18 and that the blackout will last for an unknown amount of time.  If you previously downloaded the game, you will be able to play; the internet version will not be accessible.  On Bungie's side, they said that if the bill was passed, it would "negatively impact both the games we make and the people who play them."  Bungie is also asking gamers to read the actual bill for further education on it.

Gears 3 is way different from its predecessors by letting you play as the Locust(the bad guys), and with more weapons than before.

Sonic Spinball Review

During the majority of 1993, there were no main Sonic games.  There were games for the SEGA Game Gear, but we're not talking about those today.  Near the end of 1993, SEGA came out with Sonic Spinball for the Genesis/Mega Drive.  Even though this game was not part of the main story of Sonic, it was still fun to keep that need for speed.  However, this game is infamous for difficulty and control.  How does this game stand against DirectGamers?  Lets find out; this is our review of Sonic Spinball for the SEGA Genesis/Megadrive.

Skate 3 Review

Vernon Jeffries                                                                                               12/28/11

Skate 3 Review

If you are into skateboarding, then you will enjoy playing Skate 3 on your Xbox 360 or Play Station 3. This game is rated T for teenagers. Although skate 3 is obviously a skateboarding video game, it is not at all connected to the Tony Hawk franchise. This interesting game takes skating to a whole different level as you skate you’re way through the college or grind you’re way through the city streets. The controls are way different as the game makes skating more real than in the Tony Hawk series. There are some features within the game that lets you create your own skate park and you can form your own team of average skate boarders. It allows up to 6 people to play and it allows you to save information. Will this game make you want to play for hours and hours? Here is the review for Skate 3.
