Gears of War 3 Review

If you're into shooters but the ones you've played don't have enough blood & gore... I feel bad for you, I mean you should check this out. Gears of War 3 was released September 20, 2011, rated M for mature. Developed by Epic Games and published by Microsoft Studios exclusively for the Xbox 360. This game is completely high-def and 3D compatible, you can kick butt alone or with up to 10 people on Xbox live. Gears 3 is way different from its predecessors by letting you play as the Locust(the bad guys), and with more weapons than before.

Synopsis

Marcus Fenix and Delta squad continue their effort to defeat the Locust and save humanity, but this time there is a new enemy, the Lambent. There are also new weapons to help against these new enemies, Retro Lancer, Sawed Off Shotgun, and more.

Storyline

The events in Gears of War 3 takes place two years after Jacinto, humanity's last stronghold, is destroyed. The Coalition of Ordered Governments (COG) disbands after Chairman Prescott mysteriously disappears and seemingly abandons his forces. The COG remnants relocate to Vectes, a secluded island, in order to rebuild their civilization. A new foe, the Lambent, are threatening humanity's dwindling numbers. As the Lambent begin to invade Vectes, Marcus Fenix(main character/hero) and his comrades retreat to the CNV Sovereign, a helicopter carrier, and take refuge at sea.

Game Play

Gears of War 3, like its predecessors, is a third-person shooter that emphasizes the use of cover and squad tactics in combat situations. The player's character can carry four weapons: one pistol, one set of grenades, and two other weapons, all which can be swapped with other weapons dropped by fallen foes or at stockpiles throughout the game. Most weapons feature a secondary fire mode; the game's signature rifle, the Lancer, includes a chainsaw bayonet that can be used at close range to slice through enemies.

Graphics

Like I said earlier its completely HD and includes a stereoscopic mode for 3DTV sets. It uses TriOviz for Games Technology, which is integrated with Unreal Engine 3, for stereoscopic 3D support. All "Gears of War 3" gameplay and cinematics have S3D support, and this extends to split-screen play as well. It looks like an interactive movie, thats how good the graphics are.
